When you are going to begin working on a ¢ new painting, you will need to use this selection.¢ ¢ Use Default Colors:¢ ¢ This choice saves you the trouble of selecting colors when you are ¢ going to continue working on a previously saved painting, or just ¢ showing a painting to a friend. A set of colors is selected by the ¢ computer for the paint buckets.¢¢¢¢¢ page 2¢¢¢¢¢¢¢¢¢¢¢¢ **********************************************************************¢ COMPUTER CANVASS¢ **********************************************************************¢ ¢ ¢ ¢¢ ¢ Painting List:¢ ¢ ¢ This gives you a list of all the paintings saved on the disk ¢ currently in drive one. If you remove the program disk to see the ¢ paintings on another disk, be sure to put it back before continuing. ¢ Note: this function may not work properly with disk operating systems ¢ other than DOS 2.0.¢ ¢ ¢ * The Filename *¢ ¢ ¢ The filename determines where the saves and loads go to and come ¢ from. Enter a new name for a painting you are about to begin, or the ¢ name of an existing painting to change or show it. Do not use 'D:', ¢ or a filename extension.¢ ¢ ¢ * Selecting Colors *¢ ¢ ¢ The first color to select is the background color. Then the six ¢ fore-ground colors. You must select a hue, (color), and intensity, ¢ (brightness), for each. Push the joystick up or down to cycle thru ¢ the hue choices. As you do, the bar at the bottom of the screen ¢ changes color to show what each hue looks like. Push the trigger ¢ button when the one you want appears. Now, select the intensity. ¢ Pushing the joystick left, makes it darker, and right makes it ¢ brighter. Press the trigger button to make your selection final.¢ ¢ After selecting all the colors, you have a chance to change them. ¢ If you press 'Y', you go thru the color selection process again, ¢ except now the initial values for the hues and intensities are the ¢ ones you selected before. Just press the trigger button for all the ¢ colors that you want to keep, and freely change any as they come up.¢¢¢¢¢¢¢¢¢¢¢ page 3¢¢¢¢¢¢¢¢¢¢¢¢ **********************************************************************¢ COMPUTER CANVASS¢ **********************************************************************¢ ¢ ¢ ¢¢ ¢ * Painting *¢ ¢ ¢ As soon as you push the joystick, a white dot appears on the ¢ screen. This is the painting dot. Holding the trigger button down ¢ while moving the dot leaves a trail of paint.¢ ¢ ¢ * Choosing a Color *¢ ¢ ¢ At the bottom of the screen there are 15 symbols. The first one is ¢ a number, always one or two. (See, 'Animating'). The next six are ¢ paint buckets that contain either the six colors you selected, or the ¢ default colors. To select one of these colors to paint with, use the ¢ left and right arrow keys to move the paintbrush over the bucket with ¢ the color you want, and press the space bar. To erase, select the ¢ background color to paint with. To do this, move the paintbrush as ¢ far to the left as it will go, (over the number), and press the space ¢ bar.¢ ¢ ¢ * Advanced Features *¢ ¢ ¢ Using the advanced features is just as easy as selecting colors. ¢ Just move the paintbrush over the symbol representing the feature you ¢ want, and press the space bar.¢ ¢ Thick-Thin¢ ¢ The first symbol after the paint buckets is the thick-thin symbol. ¢ Moving the paint brush over this symbol and pressing the space bar ¢ will cause the trail of paint left by the dot to be a thick one. The ¢ symbol now flashes with the paintbrush. Press the space bar again to ¢ return to a thin trail.¢ ¢ Mirror imaging¢ ¢ The next symbol is the bottom to top mirror image symbol. This ¢ function creates a mirror image of the design on the bottom of the ¢ screen to the top. Be careful when using the mirror imaging ¢ functions. Mirror imaging in the wrong direction can ruin your ¢ painting. The remaining four arrows are mirror imaging symbols also. ¢ Their direction indicates the direction of the mirror imaging.¢¢ page 4¢¢¢¢¢¢¢¢¢¢¢¢ **********************************************************************¢ COMPUTER CANVASS¢ **********************************************************************¢ ¢ ¢ ¢¢ ¢ Color Randomizing¢ ¢ The question mark is the symbol for color-randomizing
